JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Gun rights advocates are rallying at the Missouri Capitol in advance of a legislative vote on whether to override a veto of a bill nullifying some federal gun-control laws.

A couple hundred people gathered on the Capitol lawn Wednesday in the blazing sun as a warm-up to a last-moment lobbying effort inside the building.

The rally participants want lawmakers to override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of a bill declaring certain federal gun policies invalid and allowing state criminal charges to be filed against federal authorities who attempt to enforce those laws.

The House sponsor of the bill is Doug Funderburk, a Republican from St. Peters. He says he expects to get the two-thirds majority needed in the House but is concerned about the override prospects in the Senate.
