Haslag honored

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The strong play of Krista Haslag of Missouri S&T helped her earn a spot on the all-tournament team of the University of West Florida Tournament held last weekend.

Haslag (Helias High School) averaged 2.9 kills per game and hit 34 percent for the weekend, and also averaged 1.12 blocks per game.

Missouri S&T posted a record of 2-2 at the event, the first action of the season for the Miners.

The Miners opened the weekend with a loss, as the host school beat S&T by a 25-14, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20 score. Haslag racked up a match-high 17 kills and also had one solo and four assisted blocks.

Missouri S&T bounced back to beat Arkansas-Monticello 24-26, 25-16, 25-17, 25-9 as Haslag amassed 13 kills.

The Miners then topped Northern Michigan 25-15, 18-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-9. Haslag totaled 11 kills and five assisted blocks.

In the final match, Minnesota Duluth beat S&T 25-18, 25-20, 25-12. Haslag had five kills, three solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
