KC mother is cited after teacher is assaulted

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Kansas City mother accused of beating up her child's kindergarten teacher faces an assault citation.

Police reports say the mother pulled the teacher out of her chair by the hair, repeatedly punched her in the face and slammed her head against a file cabinet. The Kansas City Star (http://is.gd/mpYzXX) reports that the altercation happened Thursday night at Truman Elementary School in the Hickman Mills School District.

Police reports say the mother was upset because her 6-year-old son had come home that day with a scratch on his neck. The boy said the teacher gave him the scratch when she disciplined him.

But a district official says that when the boy's father took the child to school Friday, he told administrators and police that the teacher hadn't hurt him.
