2 Missouri men dead in boating accident

MONTICELLO, Ky. (AP) - A coroner in south-central Kentucky says two Missouri men have died in a boating accident on Lake Cumberland.

The Wayne County Coroner's office issued a news release saying the men died Saturday after being ejected from their boat as it flipped over near the Tom's Creek area of the lake.

The coroner's office identified the deceased as 47-year-old Jeffery Thomas Asbell, and 39-year-old Bradley David Smith, both of Joplin, Mo.

The boat flipped when the two were participating in an annual race known as the Lake Cumberland Poker Run.

The coroner's office says it has contacted the men's families and their bodies will be returned to Missouri.
