The Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association has found a way to get some of Missouri's 1,400 foster kids involved in the agency's Forget Me Not Gala Nov. 7.
Five or six children made self-portraits of themselves to display with their bios at the gala.
"Donors and patrons will feel like they (the kids) are there," said DeAnna Alonso, executive director of the association. "Their stories will also be there, so I'm hoping that will bring a new element to the program."
The fifth annual Forget Me Not Gala is from 6-8:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Capitol Plaza Hotel.
According to the association, proceeds from the event benefit programs for foster and adoptive children and families in Central Missouri.
The evening includes Brandon Wooley as master of ceremonies, a live and silent auction, a three-course dinner and live entertainment from the band The Late Night Benedictions.
Alonso said sponsorships for the Gala are still available, as well as tickets. Tickets are $40 for an individual and $70 per couple.
