Williams finishes second

PITTSBURG, Kan. - Lincoln University's Twishanna Williams continued her strong history at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Cross Country Championships with her performance Saturday.

Williams finished second in the meet for the second straight season, and she also finished third three years ago.

The senior finished the 6K race in a time of 21:42.08, recording her fourth top-five finish of the season. Williams has also finished in the top 10 in 15 of the 16 races she's run in her Lincoln career.

Also for the Blue Tigers, Monique Thompson was 55th (23:54.75), Akeeba Rose was 71st (24:27.78), Willomeena Williams was 75th (24:38.63), Cynthia Halbert was 79th (24:49.97), Ebony Rose was 86th (25:14.90) and Lovan Palmer was 96th (27:02.39).

Lincoln finished 10th in the 11-team race with 239 points.

Southwest Baptist won the event with 35 points. Helping the Bearcats to the finish were Briana Watson (Jefferson City High School), who finished 14th in 22:26.74, and Emily Cumpton (Blair Oaks High School), who came in 44th in 23:37.41.

Also at the meet, Missouri Southern's Addie Mengwasser (Chamois High School) came in 21st in 22:51.46 and teammate Lizzy Kirby (California High School) was 53rd in 23:49.60. The Lady Lions were fourth with 148 points.
