The Chinese restaurant in downtown Jefferson City that we carefully watched for signs of business is now open.
Sze Chuan Restaurant officially opened its doors last Wednesday. Owner Shantell Xiong said her staff is working every day for now, with dine-in and carry-out options.
As the new business gets more comfortable in the 219 Madison St. location, they may make a few changes to their schedule and possible add delivery services.
"Just come and see that our food is very special," Xiong said.
The menu features Chinese cuisine at a fair price, she said, with hot and spicy items available. A lunch special is also available.
The downtown area anticipated Sze Chuan's opening for the past few months. A sign was originally painted on the outside of the building, and later painted over. A new temporary sign is now placed on the storefront windows. Xiong said new signage was necessary after finding out downtown regulations prohibited the sign painted on the building.
