For a second night, DirecTV allowed the signal for the Columbia Fox station, KQFX, to be turned on from game two of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox.
This comes after DirecTV and News-Press & Gazette Stations, which owns KQFX, could not reach an agreement to allow Fox programming back on.
As they said Wednesday night for game one of the series, DirecTV officials said this was done just so Mid-Missouri customers could see the series, which DirecTV is a sponsor of.
Also, like on Wednesday, the signal was scheduled to be turned on for the time period of the game and a short time after its completion before being turned off again.
News-Press and Gazette also owns KMIZ and MyZouTV in Columbia. All their stations have been unavailable on DirecTV since earlier this month after the two sides could not reach an agreement on rights and fees.
Station officials have said the negotiations involve the price DirecTV is willing to pay to rebroadcast the stations' signals on the Internet.
The signals have still been available free over the air, on local cable systems and on Dish Network. However, some viewers have complained on KMIZ's website that they cannot receive the signals over an antenna because of their location or circumstances.
DirecTV officials said if no deal is reached before game three of the series is played on Saturday then they'll turn the signal on again so the game can be seen by their mid-Missouri customers.
