Jefferson City man injured in motorcycle wreck

A Jefferson City man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed into an SUV on West Edgewood Drive.

Police report Keith A. Miller, 20, was taken to a local hospital after the 1:08 p.m. wreck, then transported to University Hospital in Columbia.

He was driving a motorcycle eastbound in the 2700 block of West Edgewood when he hit a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer SUV as it was crossing the center turn lane to travel westbound. Police report the SUV had initially stopped before it pulled out of the driveway at Kwik Kar Wash to make a left turn onto Edgewood.

Witnesses at the scene told police the motorcyclist was passing other eastbound traffic at high speed prior to the crash.

The 39-year-old driver of the Mountaineer, Steven R. Lochhead Jr. of Jefferson City, reported no injuries and was wearing a seatbelt. Miller was wearing a state-approved motorcycle helmet.

Police report the crash investigation is ongoing.
