Blair Oaks claims district softball title

ASHLAND, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons have cleared the first hurdle.

The Lady Falcons, starting their bid to make it back to the softball Final Four, took the first step Saturday by claiming a district title.

Blair Oaks, the top seed in the Class 3 District 10 Tournament, dispatched third-seeded Southern Boone 9-0 in the championship game.

Payton Staggs took care of things in the circle, as she twirled a two-hitter and struck out eight.

It was a team effort at the plate. Jolie Duffner had two doubles and one RBI; Blake Burks had two hits and one RBI; Taylor Markway had one hit and two RBI; LeeAnn Polowy had two hits, including a solo home run; Karlie Reinkemeyer had a two-run single; Paige Siebeneck had one hit and one RBI; and Sara Jones had a pair of hits.

The Lady Falcons, who improved to 22-4 with the win, will play a sectional game Wednesday at Sullivan (17-7). The game time has not yet been determined.
