Valle Catholic wins Mo. Class 1 state championship

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Nolan Wood completed nine of 10 passes for 284 yards and four scores as Valle Catholic won its 12th state title by defeating Marceline 41-0 in the Class 1 State Championship Game Saturday.

The 12 titles ties the Warriors (15-0) with Webb City for the most by any Missouri school. Webb City claimed its 12th crown by beating Helias 28-14 in the Class 4 game on Friday.

Connor Basler was Wood's favorite target, as he caught six balls for 156 yards and three scores.

Basler's 156 yards were more than Marceline (11-4) was able to muster. Valle Catholic held the Tigers to just 120 yards on 48 plays.

Wood gave the Warriors the lead when he ran it in from 7 yards out 3:34 into the contest. Basler caught the first of his three TD passes with 1:30 left in the first quarter.
