School district hosting town hall today

Meeting to seek input on long-range building needs

The Jefferson City School District is hosting a forum today so residents can share their ideas about the district's long-range building needs.

From 3-4:30 p.m. today, the district's long-range planning committee will have their first town hall meeting at the Jefferson City High School cafeteria.

On Oct. 22, the committee, which is charged with developing a 20-year facilities plan for the district from grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, heard an updated demographic report from demographer Preston Smith.

After the report, the committee divided into groups for further discussion. The committee is chaired by Lorelei Schwartz, a local certified public accountant, and Bob Weber, JCPS director of facilities, grounds and purchasing.
