One arrested after early morning pursuit in JC

On Monday at about 2 a.m., a Jefferson City police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for suspicious activity in the 1200 block of East Capitol.

After running a check on the vehicle, the officer found there was a warrant flag on the license plate.

The officer approached the vehicle and as he reached the driver's side, the suspect sped off and a vehicular pursuit began.

The pursuit went throughout various parts of the east side of town near Riverside Park, and then eventually onto Route C when the suspect's vehicle malfunctioned and stopped.

The suspect was taken into custody just outside the city limits without incident, and no one was injured during the pursuit.

The suspect, 37 year old Clarence L. Johnson of Jefferson City, was arrested for driving while revoked, resisting arrest, tampering in the 1st degree, and a felony parole violation on a parole absconder warrant.

He was transported to Cole County Jail awaiting the filing of formal charges.
