Jefferson City Police Department Capt. Bob Clark was among a group from the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) who went to Oklahoma to help in the aftermath of this week's deadly tornadoes.
"It looks just as bad as the pictures you see on TV," he said. "It is sheer devastation."
Clark and the rest of the group went down on Tuesday morning, taking the FOP's disaster trailer and using it as a 24-7 kitchen to feed first responders and anyone else who came up.
Clark said the Oklahoma FOP sent its disaster trailer to Joplin when the deadly tornado hit there so they felt it was right to go help Oklahoma.
"We had a personal chef from Oklahoma City come and help us cook," Clark said. "He made things like pork chops, so guys got good hot meals."
Clark and the rest of the Missouri FOP crew came back home Thursday afternoon after they got the word that enough resources were in the area that they could leave.
"The only thing different from Joplin is that they seem to be able to get more resources because they are located near a large city, Oklahoma City," he said. "That seemed to help them get up and running faster."
