Helias boys take team crown at sectionals

Area schools qualify athletes for state

OZARK, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders will have a healthy representation at this week's Class 3 state track and field championships.

The Crusaders took the Class 3 Sectional 3 crown and advanced in seven events to the state meet Friday and Saturday at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

The top four in each event qualify for the state meet.

Helias finished with 63 points, besting Blair Oaks by one point.

Will Fife was a winner Saturday in the shot put for the Crusaders, as was Helias' 4x400-meter relay team.

Blair Oaks will be represented in eight events as Dominic Jamerson took first place in the 100-meter dash and John Karsten won the discus.

Southern Boone will be represented in five events. Landon Bartel was first in the 110-meter hurdles and the high jump.

School of the Osage qualified in five events, Eldon in two and California in one event.

California was the highest area finisher on the girls side, finishing in fifth with 45 points. Blair Oaks was seventh with 42 and Helias was 10th with 32.

Bre Zanders (discus) and Kaitilyn Shea (3,200-meter run) were winners for Helias, which advanced to the state meet in four events.

Eldon's Sara Rhine picked up wins in the high jump and long jump while California's Sydney Deeken won the triple jump. The Lady Pintos advanced in four events.

Blair Oaks advanced in three events while Osage made it in one event.
