Your Opinion: Common Core - Indoctrination, not education

May 13th, 2013 by Larry Russell Johnson, Jefferson City in News

Dear Editor:

I would like to share my thoughts regarding the May 4 News Tribune commentary, "Federal agency intrudes on education with Common Core."

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., contained a strongly worded attack on Common Core and the federal Department of Education, for bypassing Congress, and approach the states with a proposal for money if they accept Common Core as an education policy set at the federal level.

What causes my hackles to stand up is that there are state bureaucrats that sold their souls to the devil when they accepted money from the federal government because Common Core is involved in the collection of personal student information without the consent of the parents, including DNA, birth records, medical history, medical experiments during class with students being wired to EKG machines and computers to tracing of the variations in electric forces in the brain, to test eye to hand coordination and posture.

Common Core required reading will be based on the values of the collective or collectivism with subjects in environmental problems, as air and water pollution.

Works of classic authors, such as Mark Twain and works of ancient Greek and Roman authors would be considered obsolete.

"He knows how to mix in just enough truth with his lies to get the jury to bite," Glenn Beck, Control.

I don't want government in my bedroom. I don't want government in my church, I don't want government in our schools. If they deceive us that's bad, if they believe themselves that's dangerous.

Let us blaze a new path, we believe in learning not in indoctrination.
