Tigers snap five-game losing streak

Beat Alabama on Saturday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Missouri baseball team snapped a five-game losing skid by posting a 7-3 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.

The Tigers scored in each of the first four innings, putting up single tallies in each to jump out to a 4-1 lead.

Alabama cut the lead to 4-3 with single runs in the fifth and sixth, but that was as close as the Crimson Tide would get.

Missouri added a run in the seventh and two in the top of the ninth to round out the scoring.

Keaton Steele was one of four Missouri players with multiple hits in the contest, as he went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Also for the Tigers, Dane Opel was 2-for-2 with one RBI, while Dillon Everett and Josh Lester chipped in with two hits each. Scott Sommerfeld and Brannon Champagne had one hit and one RBI apiece and Dylan Kelly drove in a run.

Steele got the win in relief, pitching the final 4 1/3 innings. He allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Brett Graves pitched the first 4 1/3 innings for Missouri, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and two walks. Jake Walsh followed and retired the only batter he faced.

The Tigers are now 16-29 overall and 8-18 in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama falls to 30-22 and 12-13.

With the weekend series now tied at a game each, the teams will play the rubber match at 12:30 p.m. today.
