JOPLIN, Mo. - A record-breaking race was the highlight of Friday for the Lincoln track and field teams at the Last Chance Twilight meet hosted by Missouri Southern.

Juneille Barker broke the nine-year old stadium record in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Her winning time of 13.86 surpassed the previous mark of 13.94 set in 2004 by the Arkansas' Kasia Williams.

The Blue Tigers got another win from Nickeisha Beaumont in the long jump with a lead of 20-1 3/4. That's a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The most successful event of the day for Lincoln was the 100-meter dash, where four Blue Tigers finished in the top six. Cardine Copeland won (11.88), Toni-Ann Moore was third (12.11), Marcia Harrison was fifth (12.56) and Beaumont was sixth (12.62).

Lincoln also picked up a win in the triple jump, with Jonelle Campbell taking the title (39-11 1/4), while Moore was third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.75).

Also at the event, Missouri Southern's Melanie Bower (Linn High School) was eighth in the pole vault (11-5 3/4).

On the men's side, Lincoln's Wesley Best captured a win in the 200-meter dash (21.50). His teammates, Devin Hill and Khorey Spalding, were third (21.67) and fifth (23.12), respectively.

All three also competed in the 100-meter dash, where Hill was second (10.65), Best was third (10.72) and Spalding was (10.84).

Best and Spalding also teamed with Christian Thompson in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing second (42.44).

Competing unattached, former Blue Tiger Gerald Bascoe (10.56) won the 100-meter dash (10.56). In the same event, current Blue Tiger Joshua Manuel, competing unattached, took fifth (10.89). Bascoe also took second in the 200 (21.60).

Missouri S&T's Adriel Hawkins (Jefferson City High School) was fourth in the 200-meter dash (21.72).

Next week, the NCAA will announce the field for the Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set for May 23-25 on the campus of Colorado State-Pueblo.
