SW Mo. county jail closed for repairs

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) - The Pulaski County jail is closed for repairs.

Sheriff Ron Long sent almost 40 prisoners to other facilities this week while renovations are done on the jail in Waynesville. The project includes repairs to plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems.

The jail averages about 82 inmates and about half of them were kept in Pulaski County. Most of the other inmates were sent to Miller County.

KSPR reports (http://bit.ly/YRczto ) construction crews are working 24 hours a day to complete the job. It costs the county $35 per day per inmate to house them elsewhere.
