Lincoln softball drops pair

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lincoln softball team managed just four hits in each game while falling 6-0 and 10-2 in a non-conference doubleheader with Lindenwood on Saturday.

Lindenwood took the opener despite having a slim 7-4 edge in hits, but the Lions took advantage of three errors by the Blue Tigers.

Lindenwood scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second and two in the sixth.

No player for Lincoln had multiple hits, as the Blue Tigers got singles from Allyson Corry, Sam Kircher, Avery Myers and Jessica Wolken.

Madison Ragar pitched the first 5 1/3 innings and took the loss. She allowed six earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four. Lauren Stamp got the final two outs.

In the second game, which was shortened to five innings due to the run rule, Lindenwood held a 14-4 edge in hits.

The Lions started out hot, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first, then added one in the third and two in the fifth to end it early.

Lincoln got one run in the third when Corry singled to drive in Kassidey Borland, then another in the fifth when Corry singled home Wolken.

Corry had half of Lincoln's four hits, whiel Kircher and Megan Heimbaugh had one hit each.

Macie Kinsey, the first of three pitchers, took the loss. She did not record an out before allowing four earned runs on four hits.

Spencer Silva followed and got just one out while giving up three earned runs on three hits and one walk.

Ragar was next and finished up, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and one walk in 4 1/3 innings. She struck out two.

Lincoln fell to 3-35 on the season, while Lindenwood improved to 14-32.

The Blue Tigers return to action Tuesday when they host a non-conference doubleheader with Illinois-Springfield. The first game is set for a 2 p.m. start at Lincoln Field.
