Your Opinion: Get back on track

Dear Editor:

I would like to thank Raymond Greenslit for his letter, March 10. I hope that high school and college students read letters to the editor and read his letter. I hope that he also writes a few more letters on this subject. Bigger the colleges the worst the deceit.

I want to applaud Sen. Rand Paul for his 13-hour, old-style filibuster just to get a few simple yes-or-no answers from this administration. We finally have a senator with the guts to stand up to this administration. It sure would have been nice to have seen our Sen. Blunt and our Rep. Luetkemeyer there to support him.

Had Sen. McCain or Sen. Graham had the guts to do an old-style filibuster at the Hagel confirmation maybe we would have gotten a true answer to the Benghazi and Fast and Furious scandals. All McCain and Graham did was put on a show for the good-old-boys club and some media attention. They had to come out and criticize Sen. Paul because it took the spot light off of them, plus he gained some support and power that they do not want a freshman senator to have.

The best part of this was that the filibuster was taking place at the same time President Obama was out to wine and dine a dozen Republican good-old-boys. Joy Carney said the president found the dinner "very constructive and pleasant." Did we expect anything different?

My hope is that our freshman senators and our House of Representatives stick to their guns and put our country back on the right track to a balance budget and debt reduction.

If this country is allowed to continue down the road we are on, we will all be like a snake in a concrete vault, none of us will have a pit to hiss in.

By the way, I would like to hit Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham with my stupid stick.
