Republic beats Normandy for Mo. Class 4 boys title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Cody Geiger scored 20 points, including two last-minute free throws, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Republic past Normandy 54-51 in the Class 4 Boys Championship on Saturday.

Gerard Fuller led Normandy with 14 points, but his rushed 3-point attempt at the buzzer to tie came up short. Kevin McLemore, whose brother, Ben, leads No. 7 Kansas in scoring, added 13 while Terry White contributed 12.

Republic (28-4) scored the first 10 points of the final quarter to take a 46-42 lead, but trailed once again after White's layup put Normandy (20-9) ahead 49-48 with 1:38 remaining. Dylan Bekemeier answered with two free throws, and the Tigers scored their final six points from the charity stripe to hold off the Vikings.

Republic used a 50 percent (18-for-36) shooting performance from the floor to win its second title in school history.
