Your Opinion: Lies about sequestration

Your Opinion: Lies about sequestration

March 14th, 2013 by Charles W. Schroeder, Westphalia in News

Dear Editor:

Senators of the United States should all be hit with the Stupid Stick and Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid should be hit two or three times. Sen. Reid has allowed the authority to make laws from the Senate and the House to allow the president to create law by executive orders.

The Senate has also allowed this administration to cover up the scandals of Benghazi and Fast and Furious and the 2.2 billion Obama phone give away.

Why is it that our senators, leaders of the House and administration do not tell the truth about the sequestration. The president goes on television about every three days and lies about the devastation the sequestration will cause our country.

The military and defense will see cuts. The sequestration is actually a reduction of expenditure increases in the government. Example: government proposes 8 percent increase. The sequestration is at 2.4 percent. That leaves an increase of 5 percent. Government estimate is 15 billion increase in expenditures for this year. This is not a cut.

Everyone in Washington, D.C., is talking about the 2.4 percent sequestration. They should be agreeing on a 2.4 percent decrease in government spending each of the next 10 years.

The House has passed numerous bills reducing government and reducing our national debt. Our good buddy Harry Reid will not bring the bills to the Senate floor. People's electric bills are increasing not the electric company. It is rules, regulations and fines on the company by EPA. Phone bills increase. For Obama's 2.2 billion free phone give away, who do you think is paying for that. Taxes, health care, food are going up. You and I are not responsible for this. It is our government.

If you believe in government control you should go to North Korea, Cuba, Syria for a month.

Government needs to get out of the way of the private sector so the companies, manufacturers and private business can grow and create jobs.

This administration has preached for the past six years to help the middle class. Why is it then that an article stated "average middle class person has lost over 39 percent of their net worth in the past four years."

Cutting defense expenditures at this time is absolutely wrong. We must maintain a very strong national defense. We have more energy now then at any time in the history of this country.
