Sears employee charged with theft

A Jefferson City woman has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise while working at Sears at Capital Mall.

Court documents show Victoria Strickland, 30, admitted to taking money from her cash register, giving merchandise away and then taking that merchandise to a Sears store in Independence.

Video from that store showed Strickland returned merchandise and employees put credit on a gift card.
