News Tribune wins APME awards

The Jefferson City News Tribune design desk swept the headline category in the Associated Press Managing Editors News Writing and Photojournalism Contest.

Anne Kettenbrink's "Fifty shades that aren't gray" from July 22 and "Oktoberfest, you gotta go" from Sept. 29 took first and second place.

Doug Waggoner placed third for "Fueling our ire" from May 29.

Jeff Haldiman rounded out the News Tribune honors with second place in spot news for ""I'm so sorry' Bustamante tells victim's family" following the trial Feb. 9.

And Kettenbrink also earned third place in feature writing for "Joplin Walk of Unity offers healing, hope" from May 23.
