COLUMBIA - It took nearly three weeks, but the Missouri baseball team is in the win column.

Missouri got its first wins of the season in a doubleheader sweep of Eastern Michigan on Wednesday at Taylor Stadium.

The Tigers opened the day with a 1-0 victory behind starting pitcher Alice James. James allowed just one hit in six innings. He struck out five and walked three.

Missouri, which had just three hits, got its only run in the fifth. Scott Sommerfeld led off the inning with a double and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Josh Lester.

Things got interesting in the seventh as relief pitcher Alec Rash walked three batters, but thanks to a caught stealing in the middle of the walks, Breckin Williams came on to get a one-out save and preserve the victory.

Missouri busted out the bats in the second game, winning 7-1.

The Tigers outhit the Eagles 9-5 as Kendall Keeton led the way with three hits.

Missouri led 2-0 in the fourth when it broke the game open with four runs on three hits. After the first two went down, the next five Tigers reached base, culminating in a three-run single by Dylan Kelly.

Missouri added another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Lester. Eastern Michigan (3-9) got a run in the second but it was too little too late.

Keaton Steele picked up the win allowing zero runs and two hits in five innings.

Missouri (2-6) is back in action Friday with a three-game series against San Francisco. The Tigers open SEC play at home against South Carolina next Friday.
