Vincent Marmaduke, a member of the Confederate Secret Service, was involved in one of the most daring and desperate plots in the waning days of the Confederacy.

His story will be featured at the Missouri State Museum's Museum After Hours program at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Capitol History Hall.

"Vincent Marmaduke - The Confederacy's James Bond" will be presented by Mike Dickey, site administrator of Arrow Rock State Historic Site.

Marmaduke was the descendant of a powerful family dynasty from the Arrow Rock area. Local history records he was wronged by federal authorities during the Civil War, was banished from Missouri and briefly served as a Confederate artillery officer.

The personal flag of Gen. John Marmaduke, Vincent's brother, and other artifacts will be on display in the "Civil War in Missouri: A House Dividing" exhibit.
