Columbia College takes AMC tournament

COLUMBIA - The Columbia College Cougars won the American Midwest Conference Tournament on Tuesday night - and stayed undefeated on the season - with a 77-63 win over Park University.

The top-seeded Cougars claimed the AMC Tournament title for the second straight year.

Columbia improved to 33-0 with the win, establishing a new school record for victories in a single season. The Cougars, the top-ranked NAIA team, received an automatic bid to next week's NAIA National Championships in Kansas City.

Park (21-9) will await the release of the national tournament bracket in hopes of an at-large bid.

The Cougars started both halves with a 10-0 run to dominate. Columbia's lead was 43-33 at halftime.

The Cougars' Jordan Dressler, the Most Valuable Player in the AMC this season, racked up 20 points, eight rebounds and five blocks.

Zach Rockers (Helias High School) had 12 points for the winners.

The NAIA National Tournament seeds and pairings will be announced at 7:15 p.m. today.
