JCFD snags boater stranded on river

A Jefferson City man was rescued by Jefferson City Fire Department personnel after running out of fuel while boating on the Missouri River Sunday morning.

According to fire department reports, the call came in around 8:32 a.m.

The boater had tried to get his 17-foot fishing boat back to the banks without success and was continuing to float east when he called 911.

Launching from the Noren River Access, firefighters in the department's rescue boat caught up to the boater about four miles east of the Missouri River Bridge.

There they tied his craft onto the rescue boat and brought him back to shore.
