Coaches name all-state baseball teams

The Fatima Comets concluded their season with a Class 3 state baseball championship two weeks ago. This week a trio picked up all-state honors.

Three Comets were among numerous area players named all-state by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Fatima pitcher Patrick Schnieders was named to the first team in Class 3 as a DH/utility player. The senior played a huge part in helping the Comets to the state title. As a pitcher he was 8-0 with a 1.67 ERA. He had 74 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched. He did not allow a run in the postseason, a stretch of 22 scoreless innings.

At the plate he hit .534 with 34 RBI and four home runs. His 46 hits set a new school record.

Seth Lehmen was named to the second team as a pitcher after going 9-2 with a 3.90 ERA. He also hit .400. Reid Kesel was selected as an infielder after hitting .377 with 31 RBI and two home runs.

A pair of Blair Oaks Falcons were honored in Class 3 as Jacob Koelling was named to the second team as a pitcher and Kyler Maxey received honorable mention honors in the DH/Utility spot.

Koelling was 7-0 this season with a 0.76 ERA while Maxey hit more than .400 including 14 doubles.

Three Helias Crusaders were honored as Alex Barton was named to the second team as a catcher and Trevor Schnieders was named to the second team at the DH/Utility slot. Jordan Backes received honorable mention in the outfield.

All three hit more than .400 this season.

Jefferson City's Dylan Brauner was also an honorable mention selection in the outfield after leading the Jays with 24 stolen bases, the most in school history.

Several area players were honored in Class 2. Russellville's Chandler Wolf hit more than .400 and was 5-2 as a pitcher with 96 strikeouts. He was named to the first team at the DH/Utility spot along with Linn's Ryan Mantle. Tipton's Riley Brandt was named as an infielder.

Dominic Struemph of Vienna was named a second-team infielder while Clayton Meyer of Russellville made the second team as an outfielder.

Honorable mention selections in Class 2 included infielder Jacob Mebruer of Linn, and infielder Wade Wood of Tipton.
