Post 5 wins rain-shortened game

The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors moved to 7-0 on the season with a rain-shortened, 4-1 win over Mac-N-Seitz on Sunday morning at the American Legion Sports Complex.

Things got interesting early, as Post 5 emerged from the first inning with a 2-1 lead. The local team got both its runs on a two-out, two-run single by Corey Beard.

Post 5 tacked on another run in the fourth when Dylan Brauner walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Trevor Schnieders.

In the bottom of the fifth, Post 5 got its final run on a double by Nolan Bax that plated Seth Lehmen.

The game was called in the bottom of the sixth due to rain.

Cole Distler got the win, throwing all six innings and giving up one earned run on four hits. He struck out three.

Brauner had two hits to pace the offense.

Post 5 will host Windsor at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a doubleheader.
