NewsTribune.com commenting system changes enable easier sharing

Beginning today, News Tribune readers who wish to comment on stories on www.newstribune.com will be able to do so through their Facebook accounts.

We believe the transition from our previous method of posting comments and the new Facebook method will make it much easier and transparent for readers to share their thoughts and interact with their fellow Mid-Missourians on the site.

"Frankly, our previous method made the task of registration and commenting on a story rather laborious," said Gary Castor, managing editor of the News Tribune. "We want to streamline and simplify the process so that more people can participate in discussions about community issues.

"Facebook commenting will allow readers to more easily share their views about stories within their social circles as well as with the general public, whether they're reading that story on their desktop, smartphone or mobile device."

The website upgrade will also add more options for readers to share stories on other popular social media sites.

"Readers will be able to more easily share news about their family, friends and community on social media sites such as Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest and LinkedIn," Castor said.

If you have trouble using the new commenting system, let us know. There may be some initial glitches we need to address. You can report problems to [email protected].
