In observance of Thursday's Independence Day holiday, federal, state, county and city offices will be closed except for emergency services, such as law enforcement and fire protection.
Financial institutions and many businesses also will be closed.
The Jefferson City Transit System, "Jefftran," will not operate.
The U.S. Postal Service won't provide regular home deliveries or mailbox collections.
The Missouri River Regional Library, the Daniel Boone Regional Library and the Heartland Library will be closed Thursday.
Allied Waste will not collect trash, garbage and recyclable materials on Thursday, and the collections scheduled for Thursday will be pushed back to Friday and Friday's collections will be Saturday.

The News Tribune offices will be closed on the 4th, and there will be no newspaper on Thursday morning. Publication and office hours will resume with Friday morning's newspaper.
