ST. ALBANS, Mo. (AP) - More than a quarter of a century after youngsters found human remains along a Missouri River bank in eastern Missouri, the victim has been identified.

The Washington Missourian ( ) reports that forensics experts have determined the remains were those of Elbert Embry. He was 61 in March 1985 when he walked away from a care center in Boonville, Mo.

The remains were discovered in April 1986. It wasn't certain how they ended up at St. Albans, 140 miles from Boonville.

The remains were sent to the FBI soon after they were found. In 2010 a national database turned up a potential match, leading to testing. Franklin County authorities learned Monday that a comparison of cells from the remains and a brother of Embry were a 99 percent match.
