Accidents send six to area hospitals

Four traffic accidents this weekend resulted in six people being taken to Mid-Missouri hospitals for treatment.

• Tryston G. Bax, 16, Jefferson City, was listed in fair condition Monday at University Hospital, Columbia, after he was hurt in a one-vehicle wreck Sunday night.

The Highway Patrol said Bax was a passenger in a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Garrett A. Buschjost, 17, Jefferson City, that was southbound on Cole County's Upper Bottom Road, near St. Thomas.

Investigators said Buschjost failed to negotiate a turn and the truck hit a guardrail. It became airborne, then hit a fence, overturned and landed on its wheels.

Bax was taken to St. Mary's Health Center, then transferred to Columbia.

Another passenger, Hayden K. Lee, 17, Jefferson City, was treated and released from St. Mary's.

Buschjost was not reported as being injured.

All three teens were using seatbelts in the 9:35 p.m. accident.

• Mary Melissa Manda, 54, Jefferson City, was taken to University Hospital after a Saturday night accident, but they had no report of her being treated in their system.

She was hurt in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County, about 10:10 p.m. Saturday.
