Community, Rome family anticipate their move to LU

Jefferson City Mayor Eric Struemph served on the committee that helped nominate Kevin Rome to be Lincoln University's next president.

Friday morning, after Rome's hiring was announced, Struemph said: "I always had him on my radar because I looked at him as a young visionary.

"For a young man, he's got some good experience and, I think, that's what the university needs.

"I think it's what our city needs." Struemph also thinks Rome, who will begin his work as LU's 19th president on June 1, is "someone who the students could really, really connect with." Rome also thinks that's important.

He's been involved in student services for his entire higher education career - and plans to continue his policy of keeping regular hours for students to visit with him.
