Hiring professional security guards is the best way to protect the city's school children, a contingent of employees from J&J Security and Investigations told the Jefferson City Board of Education on Thursday evening.
Jim Clark, CEO and owner of the firm, is interested in seeing the board seriously consider the idea of hiring security guards. Lee argued locked doors, security badges and surveillance cameras might serve as a deterrent, but they "can't respond to an armed intruder."
"We're not trying to replace school resource officers," Lee said. "But adding police is just not cost effective."
