Legislators praise positive message

Mid-Missouri lawmakers gave Gov. Jay Nixon's Second Inaugural speech generally good reviews Monday afternoon.

"It was bright and positive," state Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, said. "The thing I'm going to rely heavily on is that he'd like to bring people together and work through some problems. ...

"If that can be done as we move forward, I think it will be a different tone around here."

Sen. Jolie Justus, D-Kansas City - whose 10th District was moved in last year's redistricting, so that it now includes Callaway County - thought Nixon gave "a great speech. ... It seemed well-balanced."
