Many people stood in line Monday afternoon, waiting for their turn to enter the Governor's Mansion and shake hands with Gov. Jay Nixon.

Jill Styles and Christina Miller said as they waited in line to shake Nixon's hand that this was their first time going to the mansion.

"I just can't wait to see inside," Styles said.

Miller and Styles are both from southeast Missouri and came into town to support a family member beginning his term as part of the state Legislature. The two said they were excited to attend their first inaugural ball later that evening.

Stephanie Fitch joined many of her family members in line outside the Mansion, including Rep. Sue Meredith, D-St. Louis. Fitch said the family listened to Nixon's inaugural speech and warmed themselves up to go back and brave the cold once more.

"I want to see inside," Fitch said of the Mansion.
