A former transit employee is suing Jefferson City for discrimination, alleging she was terminated for being pregnant.
The suit, filed Dec. 21, names Jefferson City and transit division director Richard Turner as defendants. According to the suit, former transit employee Catrina Davis, who had worked as bus driver for more than one year, found out she was four weeks pregnant Jan. 12.
"Despite having available accrued sick time and vacation leave, I was chastised by my supervisor for taking a couple days of sick leave to deal with severe morning sickness," Davis wrote in a statement to the Missouri Commission on Human Rights in March.
