Prairie Home was the gum on the bottom of the collective shoe of St. Elizabeth on Thursday night - annoying and hard to get rid of.
For 21â„2 quarters, anyway, before St. Elizabeth used an 11-0 run to push its lead to double digits on its way to a 56-45 victory against Prairie Home in the opening round of the Calvary Lutheran Tournament at Trinity Lutheran.
"Things finally clicked," St. Elizabeth coach Sheila Heckemeyer said. "We were playing well on offense and getting some stops on the defensive end. That just generated a lot of confidence for us."
Things were clicking early for the Lady Hornets, playing their first game since Dec. 17. St. Elizabeth outscored Prairie Home 15-4 in the final four minutes of the first quarter to take a 22-10 lead.
"I wish we could have copied that quarter the rest of the game," Heckemeyer said.
