Pressey almost always on the court for Missouri

January 3rd, 2013 in News

COLUMBIA - Missouri point guard Phil Pressey has found himself on the floor a lot lately. In the last two games, he's played more than 80 minutes and has seemed to have a hand in the outcome of nearly every one of Missouri's possessions.

His high number of minutes are a trend likely to continue as the Tigers (10-2) head toward conference play. But the question is whether Pressey has had to do too much for the 12th-ranked Tigers.

"Phil doesn't have to be more than Phil Pressey," Missouri coach Frank Haith said when talking to a group of reporters Thursday. "I think he's hearing it too much and I don't like that because I think that makes him think he has to do more. He doesn't, he has to just be Phil Pressey. He doesn't have to take 25 shots, he really doesn't.

"I really would hope if you guys would not say that to him that much, stop saying that to him. We just need him to continue (to get) base hits, not home runs."
