JC fire chief to retire

January 2nd, 2013 in News

Jefferson City will be looking to a hire a new fire chief this year. Wednesday, Bob Rennick announced his intention to retire in March.

"This retirement will mark the end of my 33 1/3 year commitment to provide the most professional, highest level of fire protection the citizens of Jefferson City would financially support," he said in his letter. "During my tenure there have been numerous changes in how the department operates including an increased focus on fire prevention awareness, advancements in fire suppression apparatus and techniques, and the level of care provided as first responders. While the way we operate has continuously evolved, what has not changed is the commitment the department has to serving this community and its citizens."

Rennick turns 66 in February and noted half of his life he has spent at this job.

"It's time to let someone else have a go at it," he said. "It's time to take time for myself."
