One hospitalized after Jefferson City shooting

The investigation continues into why a non-fatal shooting occurred early New Year's Day in Jefferson City.

Detectives spent the day trying to gather information about the incident which was reported just before 5 a.m.

Police reports show the shooting occurred at Phillips 66, 807 Stadium Boulevard.

Initial reports said multiple shots had been fired in the area.

When officers got on the scene, another call came in to the 911 center asking for officers to respond to Capital Region Hospital.

There they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

The victim was later transferred to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Authorities said he was in stable condition.

They also believed the scenario for this incident may be similar to past incidents - an argument occurs at a party or bar and the participants go to the convenience store for a confrontation.
