COLUMBIA - The Rock Bridge Lady Bruins hit seven 3-pointers to jump out to a 27-0 lead after one quarter Thursday night and cruised to a 63-11 victory against the Jefferson City Lady Jays in the semifinals of the Class 5 District 9 Tournament at Hickman High School.
The Lady Jays got on the scoreboard with a little less than three minutes to go in the half and trailed 37-4 at intermission. Rock Bridge took a 54-6 advantage into the final period.
"They shot the ball extremely well," Lady Jays coach Shane Meyer said. "When they play well on the outside as well they can play on the inside, they're going to be a handful for anybody."
Top-seeded Rock Bridge (20-5), which hit 10 3-pointers in the game, advances to Saturday's championship game against Hickman. The second-seeded Kewpies (22-4) defeated Camdenton 67-48 in the second semifinal Thursday.
Jefferson City ends its season at 3-24.
"We have an opportunity to look at everything in the program and see what we're doing," Meyer said. "We're going to step back and look at the big picture maybe more than in years past and look for new ideas."
Kezia Martin had seven points to lead Jefferson City.
