Three arrested for trying to burglarize a JC business

Three Jefferson City residents were arrested for attempting to break-in to a business early Tuesday.

According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, at about 1:30 a.m. officers responded to a citizen's call of a possible burglary in progress at 301 Lafayette, JT's Kwik Shop.

A witness heard a loud banging noise and saw three men trying to break into the business.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspects fled the area but officers were able to trace their direction through the snow to the 700 block of East McCarty Street.

Two suspects were arrested at that location and a third was arrested in the 300 block of Cherry Street where he was hiding from officers.

Arrested for attempted second-degree burglary were:

• Byron Williams, 24.

• Julio Smith, 34.

• Keshawn Sayles, 18.

As of Tuesday morning all three suspects were being held in the Cole County Jail.
