Winter weather once again picked up some wins when it came to area basketball games Friday night.
Jefferson City's regular season finale with Hazelwood Central was canceled and will not be made up. The Jays (9-12) open Class 5 District 8 play as the No. 3 seed against Rock Bridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday against Hickman.
The Helias Lady Crusaders' season finale against Owensville also was canceled and will not be made up.
Helias (17-7) is the No. 2 seed in Class 4 District 8 and opens play Tuesday night against either Mexico or Marshall at 7:30 p.m. at Mexico High School.
Action in the Class 3 District 8 Tournament at Southern Boone was postponed for the second straight day.
Semifinal boys games will take place Saturday with Blair Oaks taking on Hallsville at 6 p.m., followed by Southern Boone against Eugene at 7:30 p.m.
Both title games will take place Sunday. No. 1 seed Blair Oaks will take on No. 2 seed California at 3:30 p.m. for the girls title. The boys game between the semifinal winners will begin at 6:30 p.m.
