KC man looking for dog that bolted after explosion

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A man is frantically searching for his dog, which bolted after a fire and explosion leveled a Kansas City restaurant.

The Labrador retriever was lost after the explosion Tuesday night demolished JJs restaurant on the Country Club Plaza, killing one person and injuring at least 15 others. The blast shook neighborhoods around the blast scene.

The dog belongs to John Verstaete, who owns a business, Med Spa, near where the restaurant once stood.

A friend, Jamie Straley, brought her two dogs to the scene Wednesday hoping to help find the dog. And a photo of the missing pet was circulating on Facebook. Straley says friends are desperate to find the dog before a winter storm arrives in the Kansas City area Wednesday night.
