Man charged in killing on MetroLink platform

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 24-year-old St. Louis man has been charged in a fatal shooting at a light rail station on Laclede's Landing near the Gateway Arch.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/Z5CH6h) reports that Akira Edmonds faces one count each of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. St. Louis prosecutors charged him Friday with killing 33-year-old Charles Campbell of East St. Louis, Ill.

No one else was hurt, although other a MetroLink riders were in the area late Tuesday when Campbell was shot in the chest and groin. Edmonds is being held without bond. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Police wouldn't comment on a motive but said the shooter and the victim knew each other.
