The IRS agent cannot decide to usurp the federal tax code, the health care worker cannot defy the federal HIPPA laws, the postman cannot decide to withhold mail from individuals, the transportation worker cannot service only select communities, the Coast Guard cannot ignore distressed vessels, the Guardperson cannot avoid his/her deployment, the interstate driver cannot develop a new speed limit for the highway - yet the sheriffs can decide not to enforce federal gun control laws for assault weapons.
And we wonder how military-controlled societies (Egypt, Libya, even Mexico) develop.
People in a democratic society should be very afraid.
